Training on Wetlands Survey Tools and Equipment
The Ministry
of Environment’s Pakistan Wetlands Programme and Kinnaird College,
Lahore are joining hands to organise a training on “Wetlands
Survey Tools and Equipment” on November 10, 2006.
The workshop is aimed at strengthening the knowledge and skills of
fresh graduates and professionals who have the responsibility for
conducting research and managing conservation programmes especially
the conservation of wetlands of Pakistan and the associated biodiversity.
The course intends to help the participants navigate through the basic
field and applied research environment in such a way so as to promote
sound scientific management of wetlands resources of Pakistan.
This workshop uses the learning module on Wetlands Survey Tools and
Equipment for the management of Pakistan’s wetlands resources
developed especially for fresh graduates and field professionals using
the nationally and internationally accepted literature applied worldwide.
The module covers the theoretical aspects of each tool and equipment
and then presents practical work, using up-to-date training techniques
to apply this knowledge.
The training offers an opportunity
to improve the knowledge and skills of the participants in Geographic
Information System, Global Positioning System, use of optical aids
and the multi-probe water sampling equipment and to suggest improvements
or alternatives.
